Broadstairs Sailing Club provides a range of training, dinghy sailing and racing activities from its base at Broadstairs harbour on the North East Kent coast. The Club has a well appointed clubhouse with bar, kitchen, changing rooms, training room and a lounge with panoramic views overlooking Broadstairs Viking bay.
Broadstairs SC is essentially a dinghy racing Club but there are opportunities for members to train and take part in rescue boat, race and Club management.
The Club welcomes new memberships from experienced and non-experienced families, couples and individuals. Broadstairs Sailing Club is run entirely by the membership, with no professional staff, so there are always opportunities to get involved in sailing and non-sailing aspects of the Club and quickly feel that you belong.
A varied programme of social events runs throughout the year from the formal Dinner & Dance to informal suppers, quizzes and the annual prize giving. The clubhouse is open every Thursday evening, Sunday lunchtime and Saturday afternoon during the sailing season. Members are updated of all club activities through the email issued e-letter called “The Burgee”

The Crampton Tower Museum is a fascinating small museum is partly housed in a flint tower adjacent to the Broadstairs Railway Station. The tower formed part of the first Broadstairs public water supply and was put in repair by Thanet District Council. Thomas Russell Crampton is perhaps chiefly remembered as a designer of locomotives and of railways.
DICKENS HOUSE MUSEUM

The Dickens House museum is housed in the cottage that was Charles Dickens’ inspiration for the home of Betsey Trotwood in David Copperfield. David’s description of Betsey’s cottage with its square gravelled garden full of flowers, and a parlour of old fashioned furniture still fits today.
The character Betsey Trotwood is based on Miss Mary Pearson Strong who lived in the cottage that is now the museum. According to the reminiscences of Charles Dickens’ son Charley, he and his father regularly had tea and cakes in the parlour with the kindly and charming Miss Mary Pearson Strong. He also remembers that Miss Pearson Strong was completely convinced of her right to stop the passage of donkeys along the cliff top in front of her cottage. This belief became the donkey incident for the character of Betsey Trotwood, with the famous quote: “Janet! Donkeys!

From the outside you may wonder how the building can fit a cinema inside, but come through the doors on Harbour Street to discover a cosy foyer with popcorn, sweets and cold drinks as well as freshly brewed coffee. Step into the auditorium and you’ll find 111 comfortable seats (23 on the balcony, 88 in the stalls), plus the latest digital sound and projection technology, and a large screen that stretches the width of the building. The cinema has wheelchair and pram access, too.
The Palace is different from the multiplex experience. It brings something personal to your evening out. It may have only one screen, but that doesn’t prevent it from showing a variety of the latest films, many unlikely to be showing anywhere else in Thanet. By selecting these great films – award-winners, audience favourites, critics’ choices – the Palace aims to be your ticket to the most entertaining and thought-provoking films on offer.
The cinema is easy to find on Harbour Street next to the beach at Viking Bay, a few minutes’ walk from car parks, bus stops and the rail station. It is surrounded by restaurants, family-friendly cafes, pubs and ice cream sellers.
In March 2016 the Palace was taken over by a local family with years of experience in the film industry. Simon and Corinna look forward to ensuring that this unique seaside cinema thrives long into the future and thank all their customers for their continued support.
See you at the Palace!

The St Peter's Village Tour is an independent group of volunteers with a constitution formed to offer four free award winning guided walks around the historic village and churchyard of St Peter's, Broadstairs in Kent. The Tours are arranged by a team of over 100 volunteers.
Attend our flagship award winning Village Tour and meet many costumed characters from past centuries along with some surprises along the way! During the tour you will see the flint built church and find out a little more about its long history.
The tour is conducted in 5 groups of 10 visitors, setting off at 5 minute intervals and covers less than a mile of flat walking, but does involve standing for a number of 5 minute presentations. It includes a break for tea or coffee (although no break on evening tours, or inclement weather tours). You are advised to allow two and a half hours for your tour. In very inclement weather we provide a dramatic presentation inside the church.
What Will You See On The Tour?
During the tour you will see the flint built church and find out a little more about its long history. You will hear of conditions in the workhouse, the Newbolts breakfast concerts for hundreds of fashionable people, the tower used in the Napoleonic wars, famous (and infamous) local residents and our ancient seat of local government for the area.
It includes a break for tea or coffee (although no break on evening tours, or inclement weather tours). You are advised to allow two and a half hours for your tour. In very inclement weather we provide a dramatic presentation inside the church.
Access for visitors with disabilities. Children are very welcome on our tour. We would however, suggest a minimum age of 10 years to fully appreciate the experience. At the end of the tour you are invited to contribute towards our costs which average £4 per adult. After the tour light lunches and cream teas can be made available in the Red Lion, opposite the Church, by calling Kim on 01843 600895. Refreshments on the tour are optional at a cost of £1.
